Last night at William's soccer game was the very first time I've put on a sweatshirt since we moved. The air is finally feeler cooler and fresher and it's a beautiful thing!! I have to admit too that I love the sunny mornings we wake to every day. All summer i think we had only 3 days of rain and that was also really nice. We get much more wear out of our summer clothes living on this side of the country!!
Today after I dropped Nash at preschool, I went to the elementary school to check out the "green committee" thinking that we would discuss recycling. Well, the green committee turned out to be the chair, myself and one other new parent. And I found out that the green committee is basically the "landscaping and gardening committee and watering committee". Although I love to work in the yard, this isn't exactly what I was hoping for. I mean, if I want to weed and garden, all I have to do is walk out my front or back door!!! But the worst part about my trip there this morning was learning that the school does not have any potable water!!!! All drinking water is brought in by a bottled water company. Apparently there was a gas leak from a nearby gas station a few years ago and the water supply was contaminated. Does this make me feel good about sending my kids to school there??? I don't think so. There is also a HUGE cell tower right next to the school. I started to get a little freaked out and wonder about this whole water situation. Then, as we toured the gardens, I noticed a plaque in the 5th grade garden with a child's name on it and was informed that that child had died of cancer and someone donated the plaque and several of the shrubs in his honor. Then I found out that 2 children in a neighbors child's class have leukemia. (She doesn't send her child to school there anymore) Should I be worried???????This isn't even supposed to be our school. Our school was overcrowded at the time our homes were built so the county decided to zone the children in our neighborhood to the school in the next city over, 15 minute drive, 35-40 minute bus ride, one way. Needless to say, I need to do some research quickly!!! The worry is weighing very heavily on me tonight!!

Finally a little photo success!
Everyone's been asking, so here is a photo of our house and one of the many projects. Drywall was just installed today - this is our family room that we closed off to create more privacy and provide an extra room upstairs.
The center photo is the original room before we moved in. You can see how high the ceiling was.

Here's one of the first days of school. It's mayhem at the elementary bus stop in the morning!!

William leaves at 6:40 am, 30 minutes earlier than his old bus stop time! Yes, I've had to drive him to school already a few times.
It was still a little dark here so the photo isn't clear. Here's William on his soccer team, just to show some Sparks scenery!

Ellie and I took a 2 night trip up on the train with my sisters to NYC. Ellie was thrilled to have some girl time with Mom, aunts and counsin, Stephanie. Here's Ellie at Dylan's Candy store and shopping with Aunt Karen. And all of us in front of the hotel.
So frustrating
There have been many frustrations to face as I'm sure there are with any move. I've been trying to post some photos for several weeks now and it has been going so slowly that I finally gave up and decided to go ahead and post my "drafted version" of some summer events and then just add more when I can. I had a nice little start until tonight when I posted it and all the photos came out as the word "photo". I don't know what I did....but I need Sherri!!! Help!! I had 2 drafts, one that turned out great, followed by the strange "photo" version. Both ended up posted and in trying to delete the odd one, I deleted the good version!!!! I guess I need to be a little more tech savvy to make this happen! Now I'm exhausted and frustrated! So for now, sorry friends, you'll have to view the photos by clicking and they'll be huge. I promise to work hard to get better at this!!!
